Garantie-Einschränkungen

Nicht unter Garantie fallen Schäden infolge von:

1. Überlastung der Lautsprecher durch zu hohe oder verzerrte Verstärker-

leistung etc.

2. schädlichen Einwirkungen von übermäßiger Feuchtigkeit, Flüssigkeiten,

Hitze, Sonneneinstrahlung oder übermäßiger Verschmutzung.

3. mechanischer Beschädigung durch Unfall, Fall oder Stoss; Schäden

durch nicht autorisierte Reparaturversuche oder nicht durch den Hersteller

ausdrücklich autorisierte Modifikationen.

Die Garantie dieses Produkts bleibt in jedem Fall auf die Reparatur bzw. den

Ersatz (Entscheidung beim Hersteller) des jeweiligen EMPHASER-Produkts

beschränkt. Schäden durch unsachgemäße Verpackung oder Transportschäden

werden nicht durch diese Garantie gedeckt. Jeder über diese Garantie-Erklä-

rung hinausgehende Anspruch und jede Haftung für direkte oder indirekte

Folgeschäden werden ausdrücklich abgelehnt.

1. Speaker overload due to excessive or distorted amplifier power etc.

2. Exposure to excessive humidity, fluids, heat, direct sunrays or excessive

dirt or dust.

3. Accidents or abuse, unauthorized repair attempts and modifications

not explicitly authorized by the manufacturer

This warranty is limited to the repair or the replacement of the defective

product at the manufacturer´s option and does not include any other form

of damage, whether incidential, consequential or otherwise.

This warranty will not cover any loss during transportation, transport costs or

any other damage caused by transport or shipment of the product.



Please read and follow the installation and operating instructions listed

below carefully, to obtain best possible sound quality and performance of

this car audio component. Keep this manaual for future reference.

All AB trunk boxes are manufactured using high density 19 mm MDF. The

enclosures are lightweight but very robust. An extremely durable carpet

is protecting the boxes against daily wear. Rounded ports with more

than sufficient opening cross-sections are featured too, reassuring a

completely port-noise free operation of the AB subs, even under highest

amplifier loads.



Your AB trunkbox subwoofer is designed to be placed in the trunk com-

partment of your car.

AB subwoofers can also be used in vehicles with completely sealed trunk

compartments, for example sedan cars, where no apparent passage to

the car's passenger compartment is visible. The desired bass pressure

is then built up via the car's ventilation channels in the trunk. In such a

case, the driving amplifier gain must be set slightly higher to obtain the

same amount of perceived bass volume, and in addition the subwoofer

will render a slightly lower max. dB value, compared to subs playing in

hatch-back type cars.

The AB sub should be placed in the trunk of your car, with its angled back-

side against the rear dividing wall or behind the backseats. If necessary,

you can additionally secure your trunk box with “antislip” corners, or fix

if with belt straps.

Make sure, the lowpass function of the amp channels driving your sub

is activated. For best sound quality, a lowpass slope steepness of either

12dB, or better 18dB/oct. is recommended. The transmission range of

the AB trunk boxes lies between 20 to 90Hz.



The first thing to be set, is the correct connection polarity of your

subwoofer, to achieve acoustical "in-phase" response between the AB

subwoofer and the front- and rear satellite speakers. Before you attempt

to adjust the lowpass frequency or polarity of your sub, you must set

all tone controls - like treble, bass and loudness of your headunit - to

their neutral or zero position!

Now connect the speaker wire coming from the amplifier to the

subwoofer’s terminal binding posts, located on the backside of the

subwoofer cabinet. Set the lowpass crossover frequency of your amp dri-

ving the sub to approx. 80Hz (a little higher is better than too low!).



The acoustically correct connection is easily found by reversing the

polarity of the speaker wire connected to the terminal. Listen to the

changes of the sound in the upper bass range, when the sub is con-

nected either in phase, or with reversed polarity. This step is absolutely

crucial! One of the two polarity connections will render more bass, or

a more precise bass.

A subwoofer playing out of phase sounds slow and imprecise, so

this is the most important check to be carried out during the setup

procedure.





The fine tuning of the lowpass crossover frequency on your amplifier

has a big influence on the general sound reproduction quality of your

subwoofer model. Please note that, selecting a crossover frequency

too low, will give you a muddy and infra-bass heavy sound without

punch. On the other hand, setting the lowpass crossover point too high,

renders a very hard and droning bass sound. So take your time for this

adjustment and try several crossover frequency points, to determine

the best sounding one, it’s well worth the time invested!
