12. The Kettle is not intended for use by persons (including
children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible
for their safety and they fully understand the hazards

13. Never leave the Kettle unattended when in use.
14. Do not move or lift the Kettle while it is operating or
when it is connected to the mains electrical supply.
15. WARNING: Care must be taken when using the Kettle as
it reaches very high temperatures.

been damaged, if it is not working properly or it has
been dropped.
17. Check the power cord regularly for damage. If the power
cord is damaged in any way, it must be replaced by the
manufacturer or an authorised service centre in order to

18. Do not allow the power cord to hang over sharp edges
or to come into contact with hot surfaces.
19. Make sure that the Kettle is switched OFF and remove
the plug from the mains electrical supply before it is
cleaned and when it is being repaired.
20. WARNING: To prevent the risk of electrical shock, never
immerse the Kettle, power cord, plug or any non-
removable parts of this Kettle in water or any other
liquid.
21. When filling with water or when cleaning the Kettle, be
sure not to wet the bottom of the kettle or the base.
Before putting the Kettle on the base, wipe away any
residual water with a dry cloth and check that the base,
bottom of the kettle and cord are all completely dry
before reconnecting so as to avoid an electric shock or
short-out.
22. Do not use the Kettle with damp or wet hands.
23. To unplug the appliance, grasp the plug firmly and
remove it from the mains electrical supply. DO NOT
PULL ON THE CORD.
24. Do not exceed the maximum water level mark as this
may cause boiling water to be ejected and cause danger
from scalding.
25. To avoid burns, ensure that the kettle lid has been
properly closed before using.
26. When the Kettle is in operation, do not open the kettle
lid or move the kettle.
27. Do not switch on the kettle if it has no water in it as this
will damage the kettle.
28. Make sure to turn the power switch off before removing
the Kettle from the base.
29. Never use the appliance near or on hot surfaces.
30. Never use this appliance near a bathtub, shower or
basin or in a damp or humid area.
31. Make sure that the Kettle never comes into contact with
flammable materials, such as curtains, cloths etc and
that the power cord and plug do not come into contact
with hot parts of this unit.
32. Never use the Kettle if it is damaged in any way.
33. NEVER attempt to repair the Kettle yourself. All repairs
must be carried out by an authorised service centre.
Improper repairs may place the user at risk.

USING YOUR KETTLE
Before using this product, please read this manual carefully and adhere to all instructions.
Before using the Kettle for the first time fill the Kettle with water to up to the maximum indicator mark,
boil and discard the boiling water. Repeat this instruction twice before using the kettle.
1. Ensure that the Kettle is unplugged.
2. Open the lid and fill with cold water.
3. Never fill the Kettle when it is on the power base.
4. Fill the Kettle with the desired amount of fresh water. Ensure that the kettle, power base and
cord are dry and put the kettle on the base.
5. Ensure that the water level is filled above the minimum water level mark and that it does not
exceed the maximum water level mark.
6. When the Kettle has been filled with water, place it firmly on its base.
7. Ensure that the lid is properly closed by pressing it down firmly to close.
8. Turn on the switch. Do not turn on the kettle switch before placing the kettle on the base.
9. When the water has boiled, the Kettle will switch OFF automatically.
10. The Kettle may be switched OFF at any time by turning the ON/OFF switch to the off position.
11. Do not pour the water out of the Kettle before the water inside the kettle stops boiling.
12. Take care not to be scalded by boiling water.
13. If the kettle shuts down automatically before boiling, this indicates that there is too much scale
in the Kettle and that it should be descaled.
COLOUR CHANGING LED LIGHTS.
The LED on the thermal plate lights up blue when switched on, changes to purple as the water heats
up and turns red when the water starts boiling.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
1. Remove the mains plug from the mains electrical supply before cleaning.
2. Never immerse the Kettle, power cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
3. Clean the exterior by wiping with a slightly dampened cloth and immediately wipe dry. Never
use solvents, polish, abrasives or aerosol cleaners as they will damage the surface of the Kettle
4. Ensure that the Kettle, power base and cord are completely dry before switching on the Kettle.
HOW TO ELIMINATE SCALE
In order to keep the Kettle in good working order the scale must be frequently removed. If the Kettle
switches off before boiling, it must be descaled.
To descale, fill the Kettle with 1L cold water and add approximately 75ml vinegar.
Boil the water and allow it to stand overnight
Re-boil the water the next day
Empty the Kettle and fill with fresh water. Boil the water and then empty the kettle again.
Normal commercial descalers may be used. Follow the instructions on the packaging very carefully.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem Solution
Kettle switches off automatically before boiling 1. Check if there is scale build-up. If so,
descale as instructed.
2. Check if there is enough water in the kettle.
If not, boil dry protection will automatically
be activated. To reset the kettle, add cold
water to the kettle and after about 2 mins
the automatic protection device will reset
and the kettle will work.
The kettle does not work 1. Check if the connecting plug and socket
are in good working order.
2. If the power cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by an original factory part from an
authorised service centre.
3. When the kettle starts to boil dry, the
automatic boil dry protection device will
shut the power off. Reset as above.
There is a peculiar smell inside the kettle 1. Occasionally there is an initial odour when
the kettle is used for the first time. Boil and
discard the water a few times before using
again.
2. If this problem persists, fill water to the
maximum mark, add two spoons of baking
soda to the water, boil and discard the
water after boiling.
There is dirty water or water scale inside the
kettle
Scale build-up is common in hard water areas
and is caused by calcium carbonate and
magnesium carbonate. Descale the kettle
regularly.
WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
The warranty will not be valid if:
1. The product has not been installed, operated or maintained in accordance with the
manufacturer’s operating instructions provided with the product.
2. The product has been used for any purpose other than its intended function.
3. The damage or malfunction of the product is caused by any of the following:
Incorrect voltage
Accidents (Including liquid or moisture damage)
Misuse or abuse of the product
Faulty or improper installation
Mains supply problems, including power spikes or lightning damage
Infestation by insects
Tampering or modification of the product by persons other than authorised service
personnel
Exposure to abnormally corrosive materials
Insertion of foreign objects into the unit
Use with accessories not pre-approved by Brabantia

12. De waterkoker mag niet worden gebruikt door personen

de stroomkabel is beschadigd, moet deze worden
vervangen door de fabrikant of in een bevoegd
servicecentrum om elektrisch gevaar te voorkomen.
