Caller Display and the calls list
Y ou must subscribe to a Caller Display service for this feat ure to work. Y our network provider
may charge you f or this ser vice.

The call s list also alerts you t o mi ssed calls . Whe n you hav e new miss ed ca lls, the
icon will
flash in the display and show how many missed calls you have received.
View and dial from the calls list
1. Press
. The most recently received call is displayed.
New
is displayed when a call is new
(has not yet been viewed). Use
or to scroll thr ough the list.
When all new calls have been viewed
New
will disappear and the call counter will show
the total amount of old calls received.
2. Press
to dial the number . Or press Copy t o copy the number to the phonebook
or Del to delete the number fr om the list.
3. Press to exit and ret urn to standby .
SIM card r eader/writer
Y our BT S ynergy 4100 has a SIM card r eader/writer which allows you to copy entries from a
SIM card to the S ynergy phonebook and from the S ynergy phonebook to a SIM car d.
Copy phonebook entries to or from a SIM car d
1. Slide out the SIM reader dr awer from the side of the base and insert the SIM card.
2. At the handset, pr ess
, then Opt . Then scroll to
SIM C opy
and press OK .
3. Press
or to select either
Cop y from SIM
or
Cop y t o SIM
and select OK .
The display will show

while it checks your SIM card. If your SIM car d is
PIN protect ed, enter the SIM card PIN and press
OK.
Copying
will be dis played. Once co mplete , the n umber o f entri es copie d will be disp layed.
T ex t messaging
Befor e you can send and receive text messages you need to subscribe to the text messaging
ser vice (no subscription charge) and to Caller Displa y (a quar terly fee ma y be payable, check
with your network provider). Please see the online full user guide f or details.
T o subscribe to the text messaging ser vice
Y ou will be automatically register ed when you send your first tex t message or you can send
the word ‘R egister’ to
00000. Y ou will receive a welcome message back as confirmation.
T o access the text messaging menu:
1. Press

is displayed and press OK . Y ou can now scroll through
the menu options: W rite Message, Inbo x, Outbox and T ext Settings.
2. When the option you want is displayed, press
OK and follow the menu options available.
Multi-handset func tions
If you have bought a multiple pack and theref ore have more than one handset r egistered
to the base, you can: mak e internal calls, transfer an external call fr om one handset to
another , hold a confer ence call and make an internal call between two handsets while a
third is on an external call.

Y our BT S ynergy 4100 is guaranteed f or a period of
12 months from the date of pur chase.
Subject to the terms listed below , the guarantee
will provide f or the repair of , or at BT’ s or its agent’ s
discretion the option to r eplace the BT S ynergy
4100, or any component thereof , (other than
batteries), which is identified as faulty or below
standard, or as a result of inf erior workmanship or
materials. Products over 28 days old fr om the date
of purchase may be r eplaced with a refurbished or
repair ed product.
The conditions of this guarantee ar e:
• The guarantee shall only apply t o defects that
occur within the 12 month guarantee period.
• Proof of pur chase is required.
• The equipment is returned t o BT or its agent
as instructed.
This guarantee does not cover any faults or def ects
caused by accidents, misuse, fair wear and tear ,
neglect, tampering with the equipment, or any
attempt at adjustment or repair other than through
approved agents.
This guaran tee doe s not aff ect y our stat utory rights.

Mo st p ro ble ms ar e c aus ed by som eth ing very sim ple an d c an be fix ed wit h a f ew sim ple ch eck s:
• Make sur e both the mains power adaptor cable and telephone line cord ar e plugged into
the correct sock ets and plugged in at the wall.
• Make sur e you use all the cables and batteries (if supplied) that came in the box, not
those from a pr evious product.
• If you experience poor speech quality or interference, mak e sure the product is not
located too close to other electrical appliances. This can also help impr ove the handset
range fr om the base.
• Make sur e you charge the batteries f or at least 24 hour s bef ore first use to ensure
maximum battery per formance. The charge capacity of the batt eries will decrease
over time.
Using your BT S ynergy 4100 on a broadband Internet enabled line?
Remember t o plug the phone into the wall socket via an ADSL micr ofilter if you have
broadband Internet on your phone line, otherwise you may have problems with this
product and your br oadband ser vice. Additional BT ADSL micr ofilters can be purchased
from www .shop.bt.com
