9.4 Update the HAC5 firmware
To update the HAC5 firmware, prepare the HAC5 for pc data transfer as shown in chapter 9.3.
Note: Firmware-Update should only be done if battery shows at least 50%.
To update, only the program HAC
tronic can be used. Choose there the firmware update function.
Enter the according firmware data on the next screen and click “start”. The update starts automati-
cally.
10. Changing the batteries
HAC5:
Unscrew the battery cap on the back of the HAC5 to the left with the aid of a coin. Remove old battery
and insert new 3V-Lithium battery type CR2032 with the plus pole facing up, please make sure that
the contacts lie on the battery. Replace battery cap and screw tightly. Do not over twist battery cap!
Attention: If the values and adjustments of the HAC5 are to be maintained during the battery change,
the power-down mode should be switched on before the battery is changed (main setting mode, see
chapter 6.7). If no characters or unintelligible characters appear in the display after the battery change,
remove battery again, wait 10 sec. and insert battery again.
Speed- and cadence transmitter:
Unscrew the battery cap with a coin and remove old battery. Insert new battery type CR2032 with
the plus pole facing up and replace the cap. Do not over twist battery cap!
Heart rate transmitter:
Unscrew the battery cap with a coin and remove old battery. Insert new battery type CR2032 with
the plus pole facing up and replace the cap. Do not over twist battery cap!
Please do not discard used batteries in domestic waste, but discard them on your local
recycling-point.
11. Service and maintenance
Protect from direct sunlight, heat and frost (below 0°C and over 50°C).
Keep the heart rate transmission belt clean:
Do not wash the transmitter belt in a washing machine, due to the attached electrodes. To clean the
transmitter belt, wipe it carefully with a detergent for synthetic fabrics. Do not dry in direct sunlight.
The elastic chest belt is washable, but it must be carefully dried before use.
12. Trouble shooting
Faulty or no display
No reaction of the buttons
• Check and/or replace battery
Current speed is not displayed
Speed is too high or too low
• Check if function “Speed” is switched on in setting mode
• Check transmitter and magnet for correct installation
• Check if magnet is placed correctly on the spoke
(directly opposite the mark of the transmitter with a maximum of 3 mm distance)
• Transmitter battery empty or transmitter faulty
• Check distance between handlebar bracket and transmitter (max. 2 m)
• check adjusted wheel circumference
• check unit of measure
• start transmitter search again by pressing LL-button for three seconds
Cadence is not displayed
• Check if function “Cadence” is switched on in setting mode
• Check transmitter and magnet for correct installation
• Transmitter battery empty or faulty
• start transmitter search again by pressing LL-button for three seconds
Heart rate is not displayed or values displayed are incorrect or unstable
• Check if function “Heartrate” is switched on in setting mode
• check transmitter belt (battery)
• skin too dry / too cold
• distance between HAC5 and transmitter belt is too big (max. 10 m)
• start transmitter search again by pressing the LL-button for three seconds
Manual switch to 2nd bike profile doesn’t work
• check if speed is at zero (only then is a switch possible)
Initialization runs very slow or breaks off with “error”
• transmitter battery empty or transmitter faulty
