Do not use force when inserting the battery cartridge. If
the cartridge does not slide in easily, it is not being
inserted correctly.
Installing or removing driver bit (Fig. 2)
Important:
Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the bat-
tery cartridge is removed before installing or removing
the bit.
For tool with push-type sleeve
To install the bit, push the sleeve in the direction of the
arrow (A) and insert the bit into the sleeve as far as it will
go. Then release the sleeve to secure the bit in place.
To remove the bit, push the sleeve in the direction of the
arrow (A) and pull the bit out firmly.
For tool with pull-type sleeve
To install the bit, pull the sleeve in the direction of the
arrow (B) and insert the bit into the sleeve as far as it will
go. Then release the sleeve to secure the bit in place.
To remove the bit, pull the sleeve in the direction of the
arrow (B) and pull the bit out firmly.
NOTE:
If the bit is not inserted deep enough into the sleeve, the
sleeve will not return to its original position and the bit will
not be secured. In this case, try re-inserting the bit
according to the instructions above.
Switch action (Fig. 3)
CAUTION:
Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool, always
check to see that the switch trigger actuates properly and
returns to the “OFF” position when released.
To start the tool, simply pull the trigger. Release the trig-
ger to stop.
Reversing switch action (Fig. 4)
CAUTION:
Always check the direction of rotation before operation.
Use the reversing switch only after the tool comes to a
complete stop. Changing the direction of rotation
before the tool stops may damage the tool.
This tool has a reversing switch to change the direction of
rotation. Slide the reversing switch to the right for clock-
wise rotation or to the left for counterclockwise rotation.
Adjusting the fastening torque (Fig. 5)
1. To adjust the fastening torque, first slide the stopper
toward the switch trigger.
2. Then turn the adjusting knob so that the desired
number will be aligned with the arrow on the tool
body. The adjusting knob should be turned only
within the numbered range.
3. For 6791D and 6793D
Aligning the numbers 2, 3, 4 ..... 12 provides the
approximate 20, 30, 40 ..... 120 kg·cm of fastening
torque respectively.
For 6792D and 6794D
Aligning the numbers 2, 3, 4 ..... 8 provides the
approximate 20, 30, 40 ..... 80 kg·cm of fastening
torque respectively.
For 6795D
Aligning the numbers 2 ..... 12 provides the approxi-
mate 5 ..... 35 kg·cm of fastening torque respectively.
4. After aligning the knob to the desired position in rela-
tion to the arrow, release the stopper.
5. The correct fastening torque may vary depending
upon the kind of the screw/bolt and the material of
the workpiece to be fastened. Before actual opera-
tion, drive a trial screw into your material or a piece
of duplicate material to determine which torque level
is required for a particular application.
Screwdriving operation (Fig. 6)
Place the point of the driver bit in the screw head and
apply pressure to the tool. Then switch the tool on. When
the clutch cuts in, the motor will stop automatically. Then
release the switch trigger.
When the battery capacity decreases to a certain level,
the motor will not start even if you press the switch trig-
ger. This mechanism prevents poor fastening caused by
battery voltage-drop. Charge the battery cartridge to
resume operation.
NOTE:
Use the proper bit for the head of the screw that you
wish to use.
Make sure that the driver bit is inserted straight in the
screw head, or the screw and/or bit may be damaged.
There is a very slight possibility that the tool will not be
turned on even if you pull the switch trigger. If this
occurs, turn the sleeve slightly by hand and pull the
switch trigger again. The tool will be turned on.
MAINTENANCE
CAUTION:
Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the bat-
tery cartridge is removed before carrying out any work on
the tool.
To maintain product safety and reliability, repairs, mainte-
nance or adjustment should be carried out by a Makita
Authorized Service Center.
