    BASIC PRINCIPLES
The operating principle of MONDIALVAP 5000 is conceived for cleaning various types of surfaces
with the simple use of steam at high exit pressure and, if required, mixed with a jet of water/
detergent. The cleaning action takes place thanks to the coexistence of 3 important factors:
volume, temperature, humidity. The volume determines the impact of the fluid with the surface to
be treated, mechanically takes off and removes the dirt in the same way as an imaginary blade,
but without scratching the treated areas. The temperature is an important steam component, in
fact it has a double role: it melts the dirt to make suction easier and disinfects the surfaces. The
steam humidity, when in contact with dirt, makes it soft by changing the principal physical
characteristics of consistency, hardness and adhesion. To further increase the power of Mondialvap
5000, it is possible to mix cold water to the steam temperature thus obtaining a strong mechanical
action with a small dose. Steam condensation, dirt and water are collected by sucking them into a
suitable container. The appliance is equipped with a special suction device which allows you to suck
up the dirt and condensation created by the steam. The unit allows you to vacuum up to 8 litres of
non-foamy liquid substances. The machine is equipped with 3 filters: water, polyester and coil, which
stop the sucked up dirt. The sucked up dirt is filtered through the water in the dirt containers and
the sucked up air is 100% cleaned in the water before being re-emitted into the air.

    HOW TO USE THE APPLIANCE
    F O R D R Y A N D L I Q U I D VA C U U M I N G
Mondialvap 5000 is equipped with three special filtering systems: the water in the reservoir, the
coil filter and the internal polyester filter, which guarantee that the air re-emitted into the
    environment is without microdusts.
During operation, you can vacuum clean either dust or liquids.
If some liquids are sucked up, it will not be necessary to fill the dirt container with water. In this
way you can vacuum clean a bigger amount of liquid. If you have to suck up solids, fill the dirt
container as indicated in the "Preparation of the appliance" paragraph. When the vacuumed
material in the container reaches the maximum level allowed, suction is automatically shut off by
means of the safety floater. The user will be aware of this by an increase in motor revolutions.

operations or even during the working phase, the hose can be placed on its support (21).

    ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Apart from the two security systems (pressostat and safety valve) there is also a thermostat (which
is manually re-armable) which will intervene to protect the machine in case of any electrical
malfunction. The rearming of the thermostat can only be done by a Polti Authorised Service Centre.
The switches for the electrovalve for steam output and for the detergent pump are both low voltage
    (12V).

    S T E A M R E G U L AT I O N F E AT U R E
MONDIALVAP 5000 is equipped with a steam regulator control (8). You can use this control to
increase the steam flow by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction. Turning the control in a
clockwise direction reduces the steam flow.

    "7 BAR" SUPER STEAM
To clean very encrusted surfaces, you can use super steam: by pushing the switch (7), the steam
will go from 500 KpA to 700 KpA, obtaining much higher cleaning power. If you are using
Mondialvap 5000 at 500 KpA and you want to change to 700 KpA, it will be necessary to stop
the steam output for a few minutes so that to allow the pressure in the generator to settle.

    S U C T I O N R E G U L AT I O N
The suction power control knob (9) allows to vary the suction power according to the surfaces to
be cleaned. By turning the knob anti-clockwise, the suction power will increase.

    PRESSURE GAUGE
MONDIALVAP 5000 is equipped with a handy and precise visual pressure level gauge (6).

    SAFETY SYSTEM
The materials the appliance is made of are of excellent quality and suitable to support mechanical
and thermic stress without changing their physical characteristics. Different intervention levels of
the devices help to further enhance the safety level of the appliance.

    CONNECTION OF ACCESSORIES
Move the connector button (73) on the accessory to the “open” position. Attach the required tool
to the hand gun. Move the connector button (73) back to the position “closed”. Check that the
connector button has engaged and the accessory is fully connected.

    PIVOTING WHEELS

    Fig. 11

The machine has 4 pivoting wheels. The rear wheels have a brake so
that the machine can be stopped even on sloping surfaces. To insert
the brake, push the STOP lever with your foot (fig.11). To unlock it,
    lift the same lever.

    TIPS FOR BETTER UNIT PERFORMANCE
    - For cleaning leather, wood or delicate fabrics especially dralon, velvet and other pile surfaces,
consult the manufacturers instructions. Clean only by using the hand gun at a safe distance
together with a soft cloth and always do a test on a non visible part of the item first or on a
sample. Allow the test area to dry completely before observing results and effects on surface
or colour before proceeding to clean further areas, ensuring that exactly the same distance and
technique are applied as for the test area.
    - For cleaning wood surfaces (furniture, doors, etc.) take great care as too long an application of
the steam could alter the waxed appearance, the shine or the colour of the surfaces cleaned.
We therefore recommend you apply the steam on such surfaces only for brief periods or to clean
these surfaces using a cloth first held in the steam.
    - On delicate surfaces (e.g. synthetic materials, lacquered surfaces etc.) we recommend that the
small brush should always be covered with a cloth (15).
    - If cleaning glass surfaces in particularly low temperatures preheat the glass using the hand gun
(35b) from about 50 centimetres distance from the surface to be cleaned.
    - For the care of your plants vaporise at a minimum distance of 50 centimetres.

    - cleaning tap bases.
    - cleaning windows shutters, heaters, car interiors.
    - spraying plants from a distance.
    - removing odours and creases from clothes.
The suction+steam 120° nozzle can be connected directly to the steam+suction+ detergent hose
    through the extension tubes (49).
It is possible to combine the 120° nozzle with the following accessories:
    - round nylon brush for 120° nozzle (52), recommended to remove encrusted dirt on very narrow
surfaces, such as cookers, shutters, tiles grooves, sanitary walls and so on.
    - round brass brush for 120° nozzle (53), recommended to remove encrusted dirt on very narrow
    and resistant surfaces.
    - small tool for 120° nozzle (55), recommended to clean narrow surfaces such as tiles grooves,
doorposts, shutters slits, an so on.
    - nozzle (58), recommended to clean inaccessible places such as junctions of couches, armchairs,
mattresses, car seats and so on.
    - Cleaning brush (61), recommended to clean inaccessible and delicate places thanks to its soft
    bristles, such as frames, books.
The use of this accessory is suggested to suck up from the most inaccessible places such as
skirting boards, couches folds, armchairs, padded furniture, car seats, and so on.
If you apply the radiators brush (60) to the tip of the lance (59), you can easily go inside the cracks
of the radiator and suck up the dust.

    SUCTION+STEAM SMALL TOOL (55)
The use of this accessory is suggested on various surfaces of middle size by using the following
    plates supplied:
    - window plate (56) suggested for small mirrors, small windows, walls of cement glass and so on.
    - bristles plate (57) suggested for carpets, stairs, car interiors and so on
The small tool can be connected directly to the hose through the extension tubes (49).

THE STEAM KIT, WHICH CAN BE BOUGHT SEPARATELY,
    INCLUDES THE BELOW LISTED ACCESSORIES

    STEAM GUN (35b)

    (Optional)

The steam gun can be used directly on all spots requiring a stronger, closer treatment without
connecting the brushes. The more resistant the stain, the closer you should hold the gun; the
steam pressure and temperature being higher at the source. You should however always wipe
with a dry cloth or a slightly abrasive sponge if the stain is a difficult one to remove after using
    the gun.
The steam gun (35) is particularly efficient at:
    - breaking down rug and carpet stains before they are treated with the large brush.
    - cleaning stainless steel surfaces, panes, mirrors, enamelled surfaces.
    - cleaning hard-to-reach corners, such as stairs, window sills, door posts, aluminium outlines.
    - cleaning tap bases.
    - cleaning windows shutters, heaters, car interiors.
    - spraying plants from a distance.
    - removing odours and creases from clothes.
To reach higher points, the steam gun (35) can be connected to one or both extension tubes (64).

    EXTENSION TUBES (64)

    (Optional)

These tubes are used every time you have to reach distant surfaces such as walls or ceilings.

    MOP BRUSH (65)

    (Optional)

The MOP brush is ideal for cleaning all washable surfaces; thanks to its special cardan joint, it
easily reaches even those less accessible floor areas.
How to apply the microfibre cloth frame: position the Mop brush on the microfibre cloth frame,
making the three fixed hooks on the frame match with the three seats on the edge of the brush.
Push downwards until the frame is hooked to the brush through the three lever hooks.
Place the microfibre cloth on the frame making the velcro correspond.
To unhook the microfibre cloth frame, hold the brush by the joint and pull it upwards, unhooking
two lever hooks at the same time and then the third one until the brush is separated from the
    frame.
To clean floors, use the special microfibre cloth frame with velcro swinging back and forth without
    applying any pressure.
Use the brush without frame on particularly dirty or encrusted areas and in spaces between the
tiles: swing the brush sideways to detach the dirt. For highly obstinate stains and corners, the
Mop brush can be directly connected to the steam gun for more cleaning power.
Mondialvap is ideal for both synthetic and wool rugs as well as for all types of carpets.
Its use will ensure total hygiene, revive colours and restore the original brillance of the pile.
The treatment can be repeated as frequently as you wish, with no damage whatsoever.
    Drying occurs practically at once.

    LONG STEAM LANCE (66)

    (Optional)

This accessory allows you to reach the most inaccessible places. Ideal for cleaning large radiators
    or shutters etc.

    SMALL BRUSH (67)

    (Optional)

The small brush (67) is designed to perform the same operation as the large brush, only on smaller
surfaces. It can be connected to the steam gun (35b) with one or two extension tubes (64). The
    small brush is suitable for:
    - upholstery fabrics (resistance and colour fastness should be tested previously on a hidden piece
of fabric, allowed to dry and results evaluated).
    - velvets and leather (from a distance).
    - car interiors, windshields.
    - small glass surfaces, tiled surfaces.
When cleaning wood surfaces (doors, floors, etc) do not use naked steam, but cover the brush
(large 65 or small 67) with a cotton cloth folded into a number of thicknesses.
For cleaning furniture spray the steam onto a dry cotton cloth then wipe with the cloth.
The warm moist cloth will pick up dirt and static, so that the furniture remains cleaner longer thanks
to the absence of sticky film from chemical cleaning products.

    120° STEAM NOZZLE (68)

    (Optional)

The 120° nozzle (which can be connected directly to the gun (35b) or together with the extension
tubes) allows you to concentrate a powerful jet of steam to otherwise inaccessible locations, such
as radiators, door posts, sills and shutters, as well as for sterilising toilet bowls.

    • Before attempting any maintenance operation, be sure to always disconnect the appliance from
    the mains.
    • We recommend that the bristles of the brushes are allowed to cool down in their normal position
after use, so as to avoid any mis-shaping.
    • The accessories can be cleaned with a jet of steam
    • Check periodically the condition of the rubber washer connections on the extension tubes (F)
and on the steam gun (35a) and (35b). If necessary, replace the washers with the exchange
    washers supplied.
    • To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth. Do not use solvents or detergents
which may harm the body material.
    • We suggest to periodically clean the generator to remove any scale deposits. It is
recommended to perform this operation only when the generator is cold and the plug is
disconnected from the mains. Put an empty container under the machine, with a flat screwdriver
    turn the cock (23) anti-clockwise.
    Fig. 14
To clean the generator from the scale, insert the plug and push
the main supply switch (1). The pump is activated, making the
washing. Unplug the appliance and turn the cock (23) clockwise
tightly in its place. Switch the appliance on pushing only the main
supply switch (1), enabling the generator to refill again and only
when it is full, activate the starter switch (2).
Attention! if the generator is not full enough of water, the heating elements may burn out.

    PRECAUTIONS
    • Check that the container is full of water.
    • Check that the water/detergent reservoir is full and connected (tube securely fastened and
electrical connector well in its place).

    TIPS FOR BETTER UNIT PERFORMANCE
    • For cleaning leather, wood or delicate fabrics especially dralon, velvet and other pile surfaces,
consult the manufacturers instructions. Clean only by using the hand gun at a safe distance
together with a soft cloth and always do a test on a non visible part of the item first or on a
sample. Allow the test area to dry completely before observing results and observe effects on
surface or colour before proceeding to clean further areas, ensuring that exactly the same
distance and technique are applied as for the test area.
    • For cleaning wood surfaces (furniture, doors, etc.) take great care as too long an application
of the steam could alter the waxed appearance, the shine or the colour of the surfaces cleaned.
We therefore recommend you apply the steam on such surfaces only for brief periods or to
clean these surfaces using a cloth first held in the steam.
    • On delicate surfaces (e.g. synthetic materials, lacquered surfaces etc.) we recommend that
the small brush should always be covered with a cloth.
    • If cleaning glass surfaces in particularly low temperatures preheat the glass using the hand gun
from about 50 centimetres distance from the surface to be cleaned.
    • For the care of your plants vaporise at a minimum distance of 50 centimetres.
