Quick clean
■ The quick clean function is suitable for quickly removing dirty material from the
brew head A8 and the tubing lines.
1. Place acup, mug or glass underneath the brewing head A8 .
2. Press button B9 onc e. The espr esso machine will automatically start the quick
clean function. W ater will automatically start flowing out of the brew head A8 .
3. The quick clean process will automatically stop , however , it may also be stopped by
again pressing button B9 .
Note:
We rec ommend running the quick clean function after ever y use,
especially if you wish to brew an espresso after brewing acappuccino or
latté.
EVERYD A Y CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
■ Timely cleaning and maintenance is very important for operating the appliance and
extending its lifetime.
■ Before cleaning, turn off the appliance, disconnect it from the po wer socket and
allow it to cool down.
Drip tray and the coffee gr ounds container
■ Remove the outer drip tray A11 . Empty out all its contents ov er a sink, and wash it
using clean water and then dry it thoroughly.
■ Be careful not to burn yourself when handling the tray A11 . It may contain hot water
■ Slide out the inner drip tray A10 with the coffee grounds container A9 . Empty
out the coffee grounds container A9 and w ash it with clean water. Then dr y it
thoroughly . Empty out the inner drip tray A10 and if dirt y, wipe it with a clean
dampened cloth and then dry it thoroughly.
■ Install the inner drip tray A10 , coffee grounds container A9 and the outer drip tra y
A11 back in their place.
Note:
If the icon B3 lights up while the espresso machine is running, it means
that the coffee grounds con tainer A9 is full and needs to be emptied
out. If the icon B3 starts flashing, it means that the coffee grounds
container A9 is not inserted.
Steaming unit
■ Slide out and remove the service access door A7 . Press the steam unit r elease button
A6 and take out the steaming unit A6 – see figure H. Wash it under running water
and then dry it out thoroughly.
■ Install the steaming unit A6 properly in its place and attach the service access door
A7.
Note:
If the icon B4 lights up, it means that the steaming unit A6 is not
inserted in its place or is not correctly installed. If icon B4 is flashing,
the service access door A7 is open or incorrectly installed.
Wa ter tank
■ T ake out the water tank A1 , rinse it out with clean water with the addition of asmall
amount of neutral dishwashing detergent . Then rinse it out thoroughly using clean
water , dry it and put it back in its place.
Milk frothing system
■ T o prevent milk from accumulating inside the brew head A8 and the formation of
undesirable odours, it is important to clean out the milk frothing system after every
use.
1. Place acup, mug or glass underneath the brewing head A8 .
2. Fill the milk jug A13 with clean water .
3. Attach the connecting hose A15 to the hole in the brew head A8 – proceed
according to the instructions in section "Setting up the system for automatic
frothing".
4. Press button B10 or B11 twice.
5. The espresso machine will start pumping the water from the milk jug A13 , which it
will heat up and then start dispensing hot water and steam through the dispensing
nozzle for milk frothing, which will clean it out and r emove any milk remains.
6. Press the selected button again to end the cleaning proc ess.
7. Disconnect the connecting tube A15 from the brew head A8 and disassemble the
milk frothing system: remov e the lid A14 of the milk jug A13 and disconnect the
milk tube A16 and the rubber connecting piece A18 .
8. Remove the cover from the br ew head A8 – see figure I1 .
9. Remove the milk frother by gently pulling it down wards – see figure I2 .
10. S eparate the milk frother into two parts – take off the rubber cover and r emove the
top part from the bottom part – see figure I3 .
11. Wash all the parts in clean water and then dry thoroughly. Assemble the r emoved
parts (in reverse sequence to their disassembly) and put them back in their place.
Note:
For athorough clean, y ou can also us the brush A12 – see figure I4 .
Milk jug, milk tube and connecting tube
1. From the milk jug A13 r emove the lid A14 and pour out the remaining contents of
the milk jug A13 .
2. Remove the milk tube A16 from the milk jug A13 .
3. W ash the milk jug A13 , lid A14 , milk tube A16 and connec ting hose A15 in warm
water with a small amount of neutral dishw ashing detergent. Rinse under clean
water and dry thoroughly.
4. If necessar y, y ou can use the needle to remove dirty material out of the holes on the
ends of the connecting tube A15 – see figure J . Before assembling, check that both
ends of the connecting tube A15 are clean and dry.
5. T o thoroughly clean out the entire system, we recommend filling the milk jug A13
with clean water and then to connect it to the brew head A8 using the connecting
hose A15 through the hole in the brew head A8 – proceed acc ording to the
instructions in section "Setting up the system for automatic frothing ".
6. Press button B10 or B11 twice.
7. Allow the full contents of the milk jug A13 to flow thr ough the brew head A8 .
Coffee bean hopper
■ Only clean the coffee bean hopper A3 with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. Do
not clean it with water .
Outer surface of the espresso machine
■ T o clean the outer surface of the appliance, use a clean, lightly dampened cloth.
Then wipe everything so that it is thoroughly dry.
SELF-CLEAN FUNCTION (SELF- CLEANING)
■ If indicator B5 lights up during operation, it is necessary to star t the Self-Clean
function.
■ The appliance will work best when the Self-Clean function is used regularly, at least
once per month, or more frequently based on the hardness of the w ater that is
used. This will extend its lifetime and improve power efficiency because limescale
deposits negatively affect electricity consumption.
1. Fill the water tank A1 all the way to the maximum water mark according t o the
instructions contained in chapter "Filling the water tank ".
2. Add descaling agents specially intended f or descaling espresso machine type
appliances into the water tank A1 . These agents can normally be purchased in
specialised electrical appliance stores or in online stores. F ollow the instructions on
the manufacturer'spackaging when dosing the purchased descaling agent.
Warning:
For descaling, do not use vinegar , etc. Otherwise, the appliance
could be damaged.
3. Insert the power plug into apower socket.
4. Under the brew head A8 , place acontainer with acapacity of at least 1.1 l.
5. In the stand-by mode, simultaneously press and hold down buttons B7 and B12
for 5 seconds. A beep is made and indicator B5 and button B12 will flash.
6. T o star t the self cleaning process, press button B12 .
Note:
In the event that you wish to return to the stand-by mode a t this
stage, press button B7 .
7. T he progress of the self cleaning procedure is signalled by indica tor B5 . Take
care to prevent scalding b y hot water or the escaping steam. Do not interrupt the
process in this phase.
8. When the water in the water tank A1 is used up , indicator B1 and button B12
will start flashing. Empty out the remaining contents of the water tank A1 and
fill it up to the maximum water mark with clean water . When the filled water tank A1
is inserted back into the appliance, indicator B1 will turn off. The self cleaning
process will continue to run.
Note:
If necessary, empty out the container underneath the brew head
A8. Nevertheless, be careful when handling the container since
the water inside may be very hot.
9. When the self cleaning process is complete, the espresso will turn off automatically .
