Setting up the handset for use

Fitting the battery pack

◆ Fit the plug into the socket.

◆ Insert the battery (see diagram below).

◆ Place the battery leads in the cable guides.

Closing the battery cover

Place the cover on the battery compartment as

shown in the diagram, then push it up until it clicks

into position.

Opening the battery cover

Press down on the battery cover below its upper

end and slide the cover down.

Registering the handset on

the base

Before you can make phone calls you must 'intro-

duce' the handset to your base (register the hand-

set).

Automatic registration of Gigaset /A240

Place the handset in the base with the display fac-

ing the front. The handset will be registered to the

base after about one minute. The idle display is

shown (battery symbol and the internal number of

the handset in the top left, plus the date and time,

if they've been set).

If "Automatic Registration" has not worked after

about 1 minute, lift the handset out of the base for

around 5 seconds and then replace it in the base,

or register the handset manually.

Manual registration:

If automatic registration did not work you will have

to register the handset to the base manually.

Activate the handset if required.

1. On the handset:

enter your system PIN (default is 0000)

60 sec. as described in the base instructions.

Charging the battery pack

To charge the battery pack, leave the handset in

the base/charging cradle for approx. ten hours.

The battery pack is now fully charged. The charge

status of the battery pack is correctly displayed

only after uninterrupted charging/discharging.

You should not therefore interrupt the charging

process.

Charging is electronically controlled to prevent

overcharging. The battery pack heats up during

charging; this is normal and not dangerous. After a

time the charge capacity of the pack will decrease

for technical reasons.

Change display language

You can view the display texts in different lan-

guages.

◆ Place the battery leads in the cable

guides so that the battery cover cannot

catch on the leads and damage them

when it is closed.

◆ Only insert the recommended re-

chargeable battery pack, i.e. never use a

normal battery pack as this could damage

your health and cause injury.

◆ Never use non-Siemens battery charg-

ers as this could damage the battery pack.

◆ The handset should only be placed in a

base or charging cradle that is intended

for it.
