INTRODUCTION

● This tool is intended for dry sanding with high removal

performance of wood, plastic, metal filler and painted

surfaces

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 1

SAFETY

● Read and save this instruction manual (pay special

attention to the safety instructions at the back)

● Avoid damage that can be caused by screws, nails and

other elements in your workpiece; remove them before

you start working

● Always keep the cord away from moving parts of the tool

● When you put away the tool, switch off the motor and

ensure that all moving parts have come to a complete

standstill

● Use completely unrolled and safe extension cords with a

capacity of 16 Amps (UK 13 Amps)

● In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction,

immediately switch off the tool and disconnect the plug

● SKIL can assure flawless functioning of the tool only

when original accessories are used

● This tool should not be used by people under the age of

16 years

● The noise level when working can exceed 85 dB(A);

wear ear protection

● If the cord is damaged or cut through while working, do

not touch the cord, but immediately disconnect the plug

● Never use tool when cord is damaged; have it replaced

by a qualified person

● Always check that the supply voltage is the same as the

voltage indicated on the nameplate of the tool (tools with

a rating of 230V or 240V can also be connected to a

220V supply)

● This tool is not suitable for wet sanding

● Do not sand material containing asbestos

● When sanding metal, sparks are generated; do not use

dustbag and keep other persons and combustible

material from work area

● Do not touch the running sanding belt

● Do not continue to use worn, torn or heavily clogged

sanding belts

● Wear protective gloves, safety glasses, close-fitting

clothes and hair protection (for long hair)

● Wear a dust protection mask when working with

materials which produce dust that is detrimental to

health; inform yourself beforehand about the materials to

be worked on

● Always direct the cord to the rear away from the tool

● Always disconnect plug from power source before

making any adjustment or changing any accessory

WHEN CONNECTING NEW 3-PIN PLUG (U.K. ONLY):

● Do not connect the blue (= neutral) or brown (= live) wire

in the cord of this tool to the earth terminal of the plug

● If for any reason the old plug is cut off the cord of this

tool, it must be disposed of safely and not left

unattended

USE

● Mounting sanding frame 2

- turn sander upside down with cord pointing towards

you

- push slide A upwards

- first put bosses 1 and 2 in the corresponding slots at

the left side of the tool

- then put bosses 3 and 4 in the corresponding slots at

the right side of the tool

- push sanding frame forward

- push slide A downwards

● Removing sanding frame

Reversed sequence of mounting sanding frame

● Sanding depth 3

- can be adjusted by turning knob B

- does not change when removing sanding frame

● Belt CLIC System

- ensures quick-changing of sanding belt

- centers sanding belt automatically

● Quick-changing of sanding belts 4

! disconnect the plug

- remove sanding frame

- lift lever C

- remove sanding belt

- insert new belt with arrows printed at inner side of belt

pointing in same direction as arrow D on tool

- push lever back

! change sanding belts in time

! never fold sanding belts

● Automatic belt centering

- centers belt automatically when switching on tool

- keeps belt centered while sanding

In case belt runs off tool (mostly caused by inferior belt

quality), you should

- switch on the tool

- adjust screw E 5 till the sanding belt is running in line

with the flat side of the tool

- use new belt, if belt still runs off tool

● Removing and mounting dustbag 5

- empty dustbag regularly for optimal dust pick-up

performance

! do not use dustbag when sanding metal

● On/off switch

- switch on/off the tool by pulling/releasing trigger F 6

! before the sanding surface reaches the

workpiece, you should switch on the tool

! before switching off the tool, you should lift it

from the workpiece

● Switch lock 6

- pull trigger F

- press knob G with your thumb

- release the trigger

- unlock the switch by pulling again trigger F and then

releasing it
