Operating manual
Please read and observe the following in
formation and keep the operating manual
nearby for future reference!
Safety information
WARNING!
• Risk of fatal injury through cable!
Children could become entangled in the cables and strangle
themselves.
Æ Ensure that the baby monitoring units and power cables are
out of reach of babies/children, i.e. they are at least one meter
away.
• Risk of explosion!
Æ Only use the power adapter plugs supplied!
Æ Only use batteries supplied or ones of the same type!
Æ Always treat batteries with due care and attention and only
use batteries as described.
Æ Never use standard and rechargeable batteries together.
Never use rechargeable batteries or standard batteries with
different capacities or charge statuses together. Never use
standard or rechargeable batteries which are damaged.
• Risk of suffocation through small objects, packaging and
protective foil!
Æ Keep children away from the product and its packaging!
CAUTION!
• Risk of fire through power adapter plugs!
Power adapter plugs can heat up.
Æ Never leave any objects on the power adapter plugs. Ensure
access to power adapter plugs is not obstructed by furniture or
such.
• Risk of tripping due to improperly laid cable!
Æ Lay the cables so that nobody can trip over them!
• Risks to health and the environment from batteries!
Æ Never open, damage or swallow batteries or allow them to
pollute the environment. They could contain toxic and ecolo
gically harmful heavy metals.
Intended use
The baby monitor serves to monitor a baby/child in a room. The
transmitter unit, located near the child, transmits noises and images
from its immediate vicinity to the receiver unit. Any other use is con
sidered unintended use. Unauthorised modification or reconstruction
is not permitted. Under no circumstances open the devices or com
plete any repair work yourself.
The devices are not intended for medical purposes. Warning
and signal tones from respiratory or heartbeat monitoring equip
ment are not transmitted.
Use only in suitable environments
Observe all local directives and regulations.
Prevent excessive exposure to smoke, dust, vibration, chemicals,
moisture, heat and direct sunlight.

Inserting the batteries in the receiver unit
Æ Remove the screws and open the battery compartment.
Æ Insert the batteries (AAA) according to the markings in the battery
compartment.
Æ Close the battery compartment and replace the screws.
The batteries must be charged for at least 8 hours before being
used for the first time.
Using the base
The base [17] enables the camera [11] to be aligned accurately.
Æ Screw the screw in the base [17] in the threaded hole on the
bottom of the transmitter unit.
Æ Align the camera [11].
Æ Fix the aligned position using the screws at the bottom of the
base [17].

Æ Connect the power adapter plug to the power adapter socket [16]
on the transmitter unit and mains power outlet.
Switching the transmitter unit on/off
The transmitter unit continues to transmit even when the receiv
er unit is switched off. The signals can be received by other
devices.
Æ ON[15] ÊThe operating indicator [13] lights up.
Æ OFF[15] ÊThe operating indicator [13] goes out.
Starting up the receiver unit

Æ Connect the power adapter plug to the power adapter socket [6]
on the receiver unit and mains power outlet.
When the batteries are charged, the receiver unit can also be
operated without a mains power supply.
Switching the receiver unit on/off
Æ ON[2] ÊThe operating indicator [4] lights up.
Æ AUDIO[2] ÊThe display is switched off. Only sounds are trans
mitted and played.
Æ OFF[2] ÊThe operating indicator [4] goes out.
Icons in the display
Battery charge status
If the operating indicator [4] lights up red, the batteries must be re
charged. When the batteries are charged, the operating indicator [4]
lights up green.
Signal strength
The range can be reduced by obstructions, such as walls etc.
Electronic equipment in the vicinity can also cause disturbance.
Functions
Talk function
Æ TALK Ê Voice communication is possible from the re
ceiver unit to the transmitter unit.
VOX function
Æ ON[5] ÊThe transmitter unit only transmits when it has been
activated by a noise above a certain level.
Æ OFF[5] ÊThe transmitter unit transmits continuously.
Night vision function
If the brightness of the area monitored no longer suffices for normal
operation, the equipment automatically switches to night vision.
When the night vision function is activated, only objects up to
2 m away can be viewed. The display only provides a black and
white image.
Settings for the receiver unit
Æ + ÊIncrease the volume on the receiver unit.
Æ ÊReduce the volume on the receiver unit.
Settings using the menu
The following settings can be adjusted using the menu:
• Sensitivity for the VOX function
• Brightness of the display
• Volume on the transmitter unit
Defining settings:
Æ MENU ÊOpen the menu.
Æ +or ÊSelect a menu option.
Æ MENU ÊOpen the submenu.
Æ +or ÊChange the setting.
Æ MENU ÊSave the setting.
Æ EXIT
Æ MENU ÊClose the menu.
Registering the transmitter unit on the receiver
unit
The transmitter unit is registered on the receiver unit when the
equipment leaves the factory. Registration can also be completed
manually, if necessary.
Receiver unit:

Transmitter unit:

Registration is then completed automatically. Ê The image from the

Maintenance
Æ Clean the surface of the housing with a soft, fluff-free cloth.
Æ Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents.
Disposal
In order to dispose of your device, take it to a collection point
provided by your local public waste authorities (e.g. recycling
centre). According to the laws on the disposal of electronic and
electrical devices, owners are obliged to dispose of old electronic and
electrical devices in a separate waste container. The adjacent symbol
indicates that the device must not be disposed of in normal domestic
waste!
You are legally obliged to dispose of power packs and batteries
at the point of sale or in the corresponding containers provided
at collection points by local public waste authorities. Disposal
is free of charge. The symbols indicate that the batteries must
not be disposed of in normal domestic waste and that they must
be brought to collection points provided by local public waste
authorities.
Packaging materials must be disposed of according to local regula
tions.
Guarantee
SWITEL equipment is produced and tested according to the latest
production methods. The implementation of carefully chosen materi
als and highly developed technologies ensure trouble-free function
ing and a long service life. The terms of guarantee do not apply to
the batteries or power packs used in the products. The period of
guarantee is 24 months from the date of purchase.
All deficiencies related to material or manufacturing errors within the
period of guarantee will be redressed free of charge. Rights to
claims under the terms of guarantee are annulled following tamper
ing by the purchaser or third parties. Damage caused as the result of
improper handling or operation, normal wear and tear, incorrect
positioning or storage, improper connection or installation or Acts of
God and other external influences are excluded from the terms of
guarantee. In the case of complaints, we reserve the right to repair
defective parts, replace them or replace the entire device. Replaced
parts or devices become our property. Rights to compensation in the
case of damage are excluded where there is no evidence of intent or
gross negligence by the manufacturer.
If your device does show signs of a defect within the period of guar
antee, please contact the sales outlet where you purchased the
SWITEL device, producing the purchase receipt as evidence. All
claims under the terms of guarantee in accordance with this agree
ment can only be asserted at the sales outlet. No claims under the
terms of guarantee can be asserted after a period of two years from
the date of purchase and hand-over of the product.

This device fulfils the requirements stipulated in the Directive
1999/5/EC on radio equipment and telecommunications ter
minal equipment and the mutual recognition of their conformity.
