Ifyou dispose of it, do so having regard to any recyclingregulations in your area.2INTRODUCTIONThe TSB17 Mini Soundbar is a versatile speaker unitwith Bluetooth connectivity and both digital andanalogue audio inputs for audio-visual sources.Recommended sound sources include Play music from your mobile phone, tablet ornotebook computer via Bluetooth. Connect digital sources such as TV, satellite receiveror DVD player via the OPTICAL digital input. Connect an analogue audio source such as TV,DVD player, satellite receiver, computer or personalaudio player to the AUX Input.The unit is operated by the supplied remote control orvia the touchpads on the control panel.LOCATIONLOCATIONPlace the unit on dry stable surface away from heatand damp and where it is unlikely to fall or be knockedover. Check that connecting cables are tucked awayand will not cause a risk of tripping etc.If you are using your Soundbar for TV sound, place itcentrally under, or above the TV screen.CAUTION: This Soundbar is not intended to be a TVstand. Do Not stand a TV on it.

    CONNECTING A DIGITAL AUDIO SOURCEYour Soundbar is compatible with optical digitalsources. Always use this connection where possible forthe best quality. Compatible sources may include TVs,satellite receivers and DVD players. Some computers alsohave digital outputs.Before connecting your source, check that it has thecorrect Optical outlet.NOTE: If the source features Home Cinema surroundsound, you should set the digital output to two channelstereo. This is usually an option in the setup menu.To connect to the OPTICAL input you will need anoptical fibre interconnect (not supplied). Connect the optical interconnect to the OPTICALinput jack of your Soundbar. Connect the other end of the interconnect to theOptical outlet of your source.OPTICAL CONNECTIONOPTICALAUX INDC IN 15VConnect to theoptical outletOpticalinterconnectCONNECTING TO A TV HEADPHONE JACKYou will need a jack to jack connecting cable (supplied)terminated with a 3.5mm plug at each end. Connect the cable to the AUX IN input jack. Connect the jack plug at the other end of the cableto the headphone jack of your TV. Set the TV to play and turn up the TV headphonevolume to about 50%.     CONNECTING TO TV LINE OUT JACKSAnalogue line out sources may include Audio from a TV. Audio from a satellite receiver or DVD player.You will need to buy an audio cable terminated withconnections to match your source at one end and a3.5mm stereo jack to match your soundbar at the otherend.To connect a TV line out etc to the analogue input: Connect the 3.5mm jack to the AUX IN socket. Connect the other end of the cable to the outputjack(s) of your source.     CONNECTING POWERBefore connecting the Soundbar to mains power, checkthat the mains supply voltage in your area is within therange specified on the rating label on the AC adapter. Plug the DC cable from the AC adapter into the DCIN jack on the back panel. Plug the AC adapter into the wall socket and switchthe mains power on.FRONT PANEL CONTROLSThe instructions in this handbook always refer toremote control button functions.In addition, some controls are duplicated on the toppanel for convenient operation when close to the unit.Where the top panel controls are named differentlythis will be indicated in the text of the handbook.Touch controlsThe top panel controls for volume, mute, source, modeand pairing are touch pads. Touch the control name toselect a function.OPERATIONPOWER CONTROLTo switch the unit on Press the button.The unit will switch on and the last selected Sourceindicator will light.To switch the unit off Press the button.The unit will switch off.If you plan to leave the Soundbar unattended for longperiods (for example, holidays), switch off the mainspower by disconnecting the AC adapter from the mains.Auto StandbyThe Soundbar will set to Standby automatically ifstanding idle for 120 minutes with no signal. This is anenergy saving feature.8VOLUME CONTROLNOTE: When playing a source connected to the AUX INjack it will be necessary to set the volume on the sourceto around 50%. The volume level may then be set fromthe Soundbar. Press or to increase or reduce the volumelevel from the Soundbar.To mute the volume: Press on the remote control (or touch on thefront panel) to mute the sound.The sound will mute and the selected source indicatorwill flash slowly. Press again to restore the volume level to itsoriginal setting.SELECTING A SOURCESelecting a source from the remote control Press , AUX or OPT to select the Bluetooth, AUXIN or Optical source.The Source indicator will light to confirm the sourceselected. Set the source to play. If the source has a volumecontrol (for example, a personal audio player), thismay need to be turned up.Selecting a source from the control panel Touch SOURCE repeatedly to switch betweensources.The Source indicator will light to confirm the sourceselected.

    OPERATIONPLAYING A BLUETOOTH SOURCEBefore playing from a Bluetooth source, it will benecessary to pair the source to your Soundbar.Pairing with a Bluetooth device Switch on the Soundbar. Select the Bluetooth source.If no device has been paired to the Soundbar, theBluetooth source indicator will flash. Activate Bluetooth communication on the source.If the source is a phone, Bluetooth communication willnormally be activated in the connectivity section of thesettings menu.If the source is a computer, Bluetooth settings should befound in the Control Panel. In the Bluetooth menu of the source, there shouldbe an option to search for Bluetooth devices. Selectthis option.The source will now scan for other Bluetooth devicesand should find the unit, identified as TSB17. Choose to pair with this.If the device features Bluetooth technology earlier thanV2.1, you will be asked for a password. If so, enter 0000.Your Bluetooth source will now be connected to theSoundbar.The Bluetooth source indicator will stop flashing whenpaired.After pairing for the first time, the Soundbar will appearin the connection menu of your Bluetooth device.Re-connectingYour device and the Soundbar should re-connect whennext used if no other device is connected.Disconnecting a Bluetooth sourceTo disconnect the Bluetooth source that is currentlypaired to your soundbar Touch and hold PAIR.The Bluetooth source will be disconnected.The Bluetooth source indicator will flash.You can now pair a different device to the Soundbar.Playback control of a Bluetooth sourceSome Bluetooth sources support remote control ofplayback control functions. If this is the case, you willbe able to control the source from the Soundbar remotecontrol.NOTE: Some sources may not support some or all of thefunctions listed. Press the /, button to switch between play andpause modes. Press the } or { button to select the next orprevious track.9EQUALISATIONYour Speaker Bar includes four sound equalisationmodes, optimised for different types of programmecontent.Changing the equalisation setting Press EQ repeatedly to step through the availableequalisation mode options.These are Game mode ( indicator). Music ( indicator). Movie ( indicator). Normal, no equalisation (all indicators off).

    CARE AND MAINTENANCEAFTER USING THE SOUNDBAR Set it to Standby.CARE AND CLEANINGAll care and cleaning operations should be carried outwith the unit unplugged from the mains power.The surface of the unit can be cleaned with a drycloth. Never use abrasives, abrasive cloths or chemicalsolvents .Loudspeaker grilles can be cleaned carefully with a softbrush.TROUBLESHOOTINGNo sound Check that the Soundbar is not set to Standby. Check that the correct input is selected.No sound/low volume (computer or personal audioplayer connected to the AUX IN input) If the source has a volume control, check that thisis turned up.No sound (digital audio source) Check that the sample rate of the source is in thecorrect range for the Soundbar.No remote control operation The batteries may be flat. Try replacing thebatteries.The Soundbar sets to Standby when idleThe Soundbar will set to Standby automatically ifstanding idle for 120 minutes with no signal. This isnormal and an energy saving feature. Press thebutton to switch on and continue using the Soundbar.NOTE: the auto-standby function may be enabled ifthe volume of audio sources is set too low.
