General note: Make sure to read this operating manual care-
fully and in its entirety . Before plugging in the units fo r the rst
time, make sure you have complied with all relev ant safety and
operating ins tructions. Keep this operating manual in a safe
place so you can refer to it at a later date if necessar y .
Always: If in doubt , consult the operating manual. Make sure
to comply with all instructions regarding the unit s' s etup and
ongoing operation.
Cleaning: Only use dry or moist cloths to clean your spe aker
cabinets Nev er use abrasive or a lcohol-based cleaning prod-
ucts. If you need to cle an a speaker membr ane, do so very care-
fully using a dry cloth. Before cleaning a unit , a lways unplug the
power cable.
Humidity and sunlight: Never op erate the unit in humid or
wet sp aces, e.g. , ne ar a b ath tub, show er , wash basin, drain, in
a damp basement , or near a swimming pool. Never expose the
loudspeakers to excessive humidity . Also avoid exposing them to
direct sunlight . D o not expose device to dr ipping or splashing
water . D o not place object s lled with liquids , such as vases on
the device.
Placement: Ne ver mount the units loos ely in a vehicle, on an un-
st able sur face, on a loos e stand, on unsuitable furnitur e, or with
insufcient bracing. The loudsp eakers could topple and caus e
personal injur ies , which you w ill b e liable for . Esp ecially when
speaker cabinets are mounted on st ands or placed on top of
T V set s/ monitors, they may topple due t o external stress (cable
being pulled, tr ipping over cable, accidental physical cont act)
– even if they seem t o be mount ed quit e securely . As a result
of their weight , t oppling speaker cabinets can cause consider-
able damage, as well as b ecoming b adly damaged themselves.
The same applies to undersized or unprofessionally inst alled
wall-mounting brackets, p ar ticularly on light w alls. Always use
adequately sized w all brackets for mount ing loudspeakers, and
ensure that the wall can withst and the stress. Nev er mount the
units near a heat source. This could be a heater or oven, but
also any other electr ical dev ice that he ats up dur ing operation
(e.g., amplier) . Similarly , never place a heat source on top of the
loudspeakers, such a s a fan heat er or candles.
V entilation: There are s ever al ventilation slits and openings in
the unit's housing. These ar e designed to ensure re liable opera-
tion and st op the unit from overheating. Never block or cover
the ventilation slits; do not place the unit on a soft sur face
such as a be d, couch, carpet , etc. , as this blo cks the ventilation
slits in the b ot tom of the hous ing. Do not put any newspap ers,
tablecloths , et c., on t op of the unit . Most imp or t antly , do not
cover up the he at sink of the amplier section or expose it t o
direct sunlight . Conversely , you should generally not at tempt
to provide addit ional cooling t o the unit yourself. This is not
necess ary .
Power source: Mak e sure to connect the subwoofer to a power
source that provides the correct volt age, i.e. , the volt age in-
dicated on the type plate. If you are unsure about the voltage
provided by y our domestic power connection, p lease cont act us
or your local electr icity provider for advice. The unit doe s not
require e ar thing. When connecting t o the mains pow er s ocket ,
always use the supplied two-pole power cable. Under no cir cum-
st ances should you modify the pow er cable, as it must comply
with the ofcial polarity and ear thing regulations. Make sure to
plug the p ower cable only into a double-p ole so cket .
Make sure
the p ower swit ch is in the “ off” pos ition before conne cting or
disconnecting the device .
Cables: Lay all the cables ush w ith the o or and walls . Avoid
any lo ops in your cables that could cause people t o tr ip up.
Cable loops can also cause electr ical int er ference and degrade
the sound quality . Make sure to lay your power cables out
of reach so that they are not st oo d on or s quashed by heavy
object s. If you notice any cable damage, replace the cable. Pay
special at tention to all plug conne ctors, the mains so cket and
the subwo ofer's connect or p anel. Regularly check all po wered
cables to and from the loudspe akers for insulation issues and
breakage. If you detect a fault, immediately power down all con-
necte d units, unplug the cables and r eplace the defective cable.
Disus e: Dur ing prolonged p er iods of disuse (holiday s, et c.) , al-
ways unplug the subwoofer from the mains socket.
Thunderstorms: In the event of a thunde rstorm, sw itch off and
unplug the unit as so on as you can in order to avoid damage
from lightning strikes.
Overloading: Never overload your w all sockets , ext ension
cables and multiboxes, or the int egrated p ower so ckets on
your electr ical devices. Power overloads can cause shor t cir-
cuits and res. Also avoid turning up the volume control exces-
sively on y our amplier , par t icularly if you ar e also boosting
the b ass frequencies (bass control, loudness button, bass boo st
but t on, etc.) .
Liquid and foreign sub st ances: Liquids or other foreign sub-
st ances should never get ins ide the unit , as they may int er fere
with expose d live par t s and caus e shor t circuits or res. Abso-
lutely avoid spilling any ty pe of liquid onto the unit . In case of a
fault: Never at tempt t o repair the unit yourself. Always contact
our supp or t te am rs t and discuss the fault with them. If ap-
propriate, they may give you instructions on how t o clear the
fault . If this is not possible, send the unit directly to our service
address.
T ranspor t: T ake utmos t care when transpor ting the unit , and
use a s ack b arrow if p ossible. Be aw are that both the s ack bar-
row and the unit can e asily fall over as a result of sudden stop -
ping or jolting (uneven ground, lurching movements, etc.) .
Unusual nois es: If any unusual noises occur dur ing operation,
or if the sound gets dist or te d, imme diately turn down the am-
plier volume to a level whe re the sound returns to normal.
Replacing the fuse:
Unplug the pow er cable before replacing the fus e. Make sure
that the replacement fuse has the same rating as the defec-
tive fuse.
Speaker volume: Excessive loudsp eaker volume can cause ir-
reversible he ar ing loss. The subwoofer may emit high sound
pressure levels very unexpectedly when it is sudde nly triggered
into activity by a bass impulse ( “St andby/ Aut o On” mode) – p ar-
ticularly if the unit is on full volume. As well as physical hear ing
loss, also watch out for p sychological str ess caused by excessive
volume. Children and pet s are par ticularly sensitive to noise. Al-
ways set the volume contr ol of y our audio system to a level that
is appropr iate to the surroundings. When the system is playing
at high volume, do not st and t oo clo sely to the subwo ofer and
never put your ears directly up to any of the loudspeakers.
Please read the following
safety guidelines
very carefully.
Packaging materials,
particularly plastic bags and
foils, should be kept out of
children's reach, as they can be
dangerous (e.g., risk
of suffocation)
Never leave your children
alone with electrical devices, as
there is always a risk of
electrical shock.
In case o f an emergency:
Immediately disconnect the
unit's power plug from the
mains socket . In the following
cases, p lease cont act one of our
serv ice technicians:
4 Power plug or cab le
is damaged
4 Liquid or
other foreign substances
have got inside the device
4 The unit has been directly
exposed t o rain or another
type of liquid
4 The unit is inoperativ e
even though you ha ve
followed all the operating
instructions
4
The unit ha s be en dropped
or otherwise damage d
We are not liable for any inci-
dents resulting from disregard
of the safety guidelines.
