Prior to use

Read these instructions carefully. They contain important notes for the

use, safety and maintenance of the appliance.

Keep them in a safe place and transfer them to a possible succeeding

user.

Only use the appliance for the purpose mentioned in these instruc-

tions.

This appliance is intended for domestic use and similar applications,

such as:

⋅ in staff kitchens in shops, ofﬁces and other commercial

establishments;

⋅ in agricultural establishments;

⋅ by guests in hotels, motels and other accommodation

facilities;

⋅ in bed-and-breakfast facilities.

The appliance is not intended for purely commercial use.

Be sure to follow the safety information when using the appliance.

Safety information

▪ Connect the appliance only to a shockproof socket that has been

installed according to regulations. The power cable and power plug

must be dry.

▪ D o not pull the power cable over sharp edges or jam, do not let it

hang down and protect from heat and oil.

▪ Only operate the kettle with the matching base.

▪ D o not pull out the plug by the cable or touch it with wet hands.

▪ I f the following happens, do not use the appliance and unplug it

immediately:

⋅ the appliance or power cable are damaged;

⋅ the appliance leaks;

⋅ a defect is suspected after a fall or similar occurrence.

In these cases, have the appliance repaired.

▪ D o not place the water kettle on hot surfaces such as stove tops or

near an open gas ﬂame, as this may cause it to melt.

▪ D o not place the appliance on water-sensitive surfaces. Water spray

may damage the appliance.

▪ D o not operate the appliance under sensitive furniture as the steam

emerging when boiling may cause damage.

▪ Never leave the kettle to boil unattended.

▪ D o not switch on the appliance without water.

▪ Remove the kettle from the base to ﬁll in water.

▪ Fill in only pure water; never ﬁll in milk, coffee or the like.

▪ I f the appliance is overﬁlled or used with the lid not properly

closed, hot water may spurt out.

▪ D o not move the appliance during operation and do not pull at the

power cable.

▪ Caution. The appliance becomes very hot. Risk of scalding due to

emerging steam. Hold the hot kettle only by its handle and do not

open the lid to pour out the water.

▪ Always empty the kettle completely. Do not leave residual water in

the appliance over a longer period.

▪ This appliance is not intended to be used by persons (including

children) with limited physical, sensory or intellectual faculties or

who lack experience and/or knowledge, unless they are supervised

by a person responsible for their safety or have received instruc-

tions on how to use the appliance.

▪ Please make sure that children do not have an opportunity to play

with the appliance.

▪ Pull the power plug:

⋅ if faults arise during operation,

⋅ prior to each cleaning and service,

⋅ after use.

▪ D o not immerse the kettle or the base into water.

▪ I n the case of misuse, wrong handling or incorrect repair no

liability will be taken for possible damages.

Also, guarantee services are excluded in such cases.

▪ Packaging material e.g. plastic bags should be kept out of the reach

of children.

▪ I f the power cable of the appliance is damaged, it must be replaced

by the manufacturer’s authorised service agent or a qualiﬁed

technician. Incorrect repairs may result in considerable hazards for

the user.

Start-up

Prior to ﬁrst use, clean the kettle thoroughly from the inside. To do so,

open the lid by pressing the button on the handle.

A mesh ﬁlter is ﬁtted in the spout to hold back large limescale and

calcium deposits when pouring out the water.

The section of the power cable not in use can be wound up and stored

on the underside of the base.

Connect the power plug to a shockproof socket.

Fill in at least so much water that the water level is visible on the

water level indicator, but no higher than the max mark. Close the lid.

Only then will the automatic boiling stop work reliably.

Set the kettle on the base facing in any direction. Only then push the

ON switch under the handle upwards.

The ON switch will only lock into place if the kettle is placed on the

base.

When using the kettle for the ﬁrst time, do not use the boiled water

for preparing food or beverages.
