some specific reason, such as the possibility of the loss of an
authorization code for a CA TV conv er ter , is not intended to be
unplugged by the user for cleaning or an y other purpose, ma y exclude
the refer ence to unplugging the appliance in the cleaning description
otherwise requir ed in item 5.
6. Attachments — Do not use attachments not recommended by the
video product man ufacturer as the y ma y cause hazards.
7. W ater and Moisture — Do not use this video pr oduct near water - for
example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a
wet basement, or near a swimming pool, and the like.
8. Accessories — Do not place this video product on an unstable cart,
stand, tripod, bracket, or table . The video product ma y fall, causing
serious injury to a child or adult, and serious damage to the appliance.
Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, brack et, or table recommended by
the manufacturer or sold with the video pr oduct. Any mounting of the
appliance should follow the man ufacturer’ s instructions and should use a
mounting accessory recommended by the manufacturer .

9. V entilation — Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided f or
ventilation, to ensure r eliable operation of the video product, and to
protect it fr om overheating. These openings must not be blocked or
cover ed. The openings should nev er be blocked b y placing the video
product on a bed, sofa, rug,
or other similar surface. This video product should nev er be placed near
or over a radiator or heat r egister . This video product should not be
placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase or rack unless proper
ventilation is pr ovided or the manufacturer’ s instructions ha ve been
adhered to .
10. Power Sour ces — This video product should be operated only fr om
the type of power sour ce indicated on the marking label. If you ar e not
sure of the type of pow er supply to your home, consult your a ppliance
supplier or local power compan y . For video pr oducts intended to
operate from battery power , or other sources, refer to the operating
instructions.
11. Polarization — This product ma y be equipped with a polarized
alternating-current line plug (a plug ha ving one blade wider than the
other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one wa y . This is a
safety featur e. If you ar e unable to inser t the plug fully into the outlet, tr y
reversing the plug.
If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace y our
obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.
12. Power -Cord Protection — P ower supply cords should be r outed so
that they ar e not likel y to be walk ed on or pinched by items placed upon
or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs,
conv enience receptacles,
and the point where the y exit from the a ppliance.
13. Outdoor Antenna Grounding — If an outside antenna or cable
system is connected to the video product, be sure the antenna or cable
system is grounded so as to pr ovide some protection against voltage
surges and built-up static charges.
Section 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFP A 70, pr ovides
information with regar d to proper grounding of the mast and supporting
structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size
of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection
to grounding electr odes, and requir ements for the gr ounding electrode.

14. Lightning — For added protection f or this product during a lightning
storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time,
unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable
system. This will prevent damage to the pr oduct due to lightning and
power surges.
15. Power lines — An outside antenna system should not be located in
the vicinity of overhead po wer lines or other electric light or po wer
circuits, or where it can fall into such pow er lines or circuits. When
installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be tak en to
keep fr om touching such power lines or cir cuits as contact with them
might be fatal.
16. Overloading — Do not overload wall outlets and extension cor ds as
this can result in a risk of fir e or electric shock.
17. Object and Liquid Entr y — Never push objects of an y kind into this
product thr ough openings as they may touch danger ous voltage points or
short-out par ts that could result in a fir e or electric shock. Nev er spill
liquid of any kind on the pr oduct.
18. Ser vicing — Do not attempt to ser vice this pr oduct yourself, as
opening or removing co vers ma y expose you to danger ous voltage or
other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified ser vice personnel.
19. Damage Requiring Ser vice — Unplug this product fr om the wall
outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the
following conditions:
a. When the power -supply cor d or plug is damaged.
b. If liquid has been spilled on, or objects ha ve fallen into the product.
c. If the product has been exposed to rain or water .
d. If the product does not operate normally by follo wing the operating
instructions. Adjust only those contr ols that are cov ered by the operating
instructions as an improper adjustment of other contr ols may r esult in
damage and will often requir e extensive w ork by a qualified technician to
restor e the product to its normal operation.
e. If the product has been dr opped or the cabinet has been damaged.
f. When the product exhibits a distinct change in performance - this
indicates a need for service .
20. Replacement Par ts — When replacement parts are requir ed, be sure
the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the
manufacturer or which ha ve the same characteristics as the original part.
Unauthorized substitutions ma y result in fir e , electric shock or other
hazards.
21. Safety Check — Upon completion of any service or repairs to this
product, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to
determine that the product is in pr oper operating condition.
22. Car ts and Stands — The appliance should be used only with a cart or
stand that is recommended by the man ufacturer .
23. Heat — The product should be situated a wa y from heat sour ces such
as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other products that produce heat.
This “bolt of lightning” indicates uninsulated material within
your unit ma y cause an electrical shock. For the saf ety of
everyone in your household, please do not remov e product
covering.
The “exclamation point” calls attention to features for
which you should r ead the enclosed literature closel y to
pre vent operating and maintenance pr oblems.
