DST Bias: The amount of time in minutes the clocks change
when DST starts. For example, enter 60 if clocks move
forward 1 hour when DST starts. Enter -60 if clocks move
backward 1 hour when DST starts.
DHCP: The DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)
setting indicates whether the device attempts to get an
address from a DHCP server when it joins the network or
uses a static IP configuration. When turned off, the IP
configuration is defined by the Static IP, Subnet Mask, DNS
Server IP, and Gateway IP settings. The default value is true.
Static IP: The IP address used by the device when DHCP is
turned off. This is not used when DHCP is turned on. The
default value is 0.0.0.0.
Gateway IP: The gateway IP address used when DHCP is
turned off. This is not used when DHCP is turned on. The
default value is 0.0.0.0.
Subnet Mask: The subnet mask used when DHCP is turned off.
This is not used when DHCP is turned on. The default value
is 255.255.255.0.
DNS Server IP: The DNS (Domain Name System) server to be
used when DHCP is false. The default value is 0.0.0.0.
Custom NTP Time Server: The hostname or IP address of the
internal or external SNTP time server in use. This field is
required. The server is accessed using UDP on port 123. If
using an external server, make the proper firewall exceptions
to allow access.
Setting DST Mode By Day: Example
You can use these sample network settings if your region starts
and ends daylight-saving time on a specific day of the week. For
example, when clocks move forward one hour, and daylight-
saving time starts at 02:00 on the second Sunday in March and
ends at 02:00 on the first Sunday in November.
For the DST Mode value, select By Day.
For the DST Start Day value, select Sunday.
For the DST Start Day Occurrence value, select second.
For the DST End Day value, select Sunday.
For the DST End Day Occurrence value, select first.
Do not select a value for DST Starting Day of Month.
Do not select a value for DST Ending Day of Month.
For the DST Start Month value, select March.
For the DST End Month value, select November.
For the DST Start Time of Day value, enter 02:00.
For the DST Stop Time of Day value, enter 02:00.
For the DST Bias value, enter 60.

Loading OAuth Values
The vívohub configuration utility loads the required OAuth
values from an encrypted file. Garmin generates the encrypted
file and provides it to the vívohub administrator.

Download and install the vívohub configuration utility.

Select Load OAuth.

Select the .enc file provided by Garmin.
The OAuth credentials are populated in the configuration
utility.
Connecting the Device to External Power

Plug the micro-USB connector into the micro-USB port on the
device.

Plug the USB connector into an AC adapter or USB hub.
NOTE: See vívohub Specifications for power requirements.

Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet.
The device turns on automatically.
Joining an Existing Wireless Network

Configure network settings (Configuring Network Settings).

Connect the device to external power.

Wait until the red LED is off and the green LED repeatedly
flashes double-blinks.
The device joins an existing wireless network and is ready to
receive data from compatible activity trackers.
Receiving Data Wirelessly
The device receives data from compatible activity trackers using
ANT low power wireless technology. The device scans for the
periodic beacons of activity trackers within range (10 m). These
beacons are unique from other nearby wireless devices.
When a compatible activity tracker is detected, the device
establishes a connection and downloads updated time and
settings data to the activity tracker. The device uploads activity
files from the activity tracker and transfers the files to Garmin
Connected Services over a wireless network. The device
disconnects from the activity tracker when the data transfer is
complete and resumes scanning for other compatible activity
trackers.
Installation Considerations
Number of vívohub Devices Required
The number of devices required depends on your building layout
and how often users expect to sync activity data. Garmin
recommends installing 1 device for every 50 to 100 users.
Multiple vívohub devices can join the same wireless network.
User Expectations
Users who require immediate feedback may want to know
where the vívohub devices are installed to allow for intentional
syncing.
Building Layout and User Traffic
Devices should be installed in locations that users pass by at
least once per day. Garmin recommends obtaining a layout
drawing of your building and marking potential installation
locations where users regularly pass by. If users are frequently
away from the workplace for extended periods of time, devices
should be installed in areas such as break rooms where users
linger for more than 20 seconds (Sync Times).
Sync Range
Installation is most effective when the devices are located with a
clear line of sight to users walking by. Devices should be
installed within 10 m (30 ft.) of user traffic, and they should be
installed in locations where users walk toward the devices. The
