Connection and Getting Started
Connect the camera’s RJ45 connector to a 1:1 connected network cable and its net-
work, e.g. a network switch. The cable length between camera and router/network
switch can be up to 100 m.
Connect the low-voltage socket of the camera to the corresponding round plug on
the enclosed power adapter. Plug the power supply unit into a wall socket.
Insert the mini DVD provided in the appropriate drive of your computer. If the in-
stallation software on the DVD does not start automatically, you must start the
installation programme manually. When this operating manual was prepared, the
programme was located in the main directory of the DVD (programme name “Auto-
run.exe”).
Follow the program’s instructions.
Be aware that the names and descriptions of the installation procedure, as described
here, may be changed in newer versions of the software. In this case please observe
the accompanying English language operating manual on the DVD (PDF format).
Start the software that you just installed (“IP Discovery Tool”). It will search for
available cameras in the network. If the camera with its corresponding IP address is
shown, select the camera by double-clicking on it and then click on “Connect”.
Please note:
In your network a DHCP server must be active (e.g. the DHCP server of a rout-
er). The PC must be con gured so that it assigns an IP address automatically.
The camera is also assigned an IP address by the DHCP server.
If there is no DHCP server, the camera has the IP address 192.168.1.200 (net-
work mask 255.255.255.0). It is important that this IP address is not already
used by another device in the network. Otherwise, there is no access to the
camera!
If the camera requests a user name and password, you have to enter “admin” for
both (written in lower case letters and without quotation marks).
We recommend you to use Internet Explorer as the internet browser in order to be
able to use all functions of the camera. Prior to connecting to the camera, you have
to install an ActiveX plug-in.
Depending on the security settings for your Internet Explorer an error message ap-
pears, saying a required ActiveX element cannot be installed or that the installation
of the ActiveX can be started manually by clicking on the information bar.
This ActiveX element is necessary for the camera image to be shown.
Furthermore, modi cations to the settings of the antivirus or rewall programmes
may be required in order to have the software working awlessly.
Unfortunately, due to the variety of programmes, programme versions and also op-
erating systems a precise description of the procedure is not possible.
Further information regarding the software or camera can be found in the English
language operating manual on the accompanying DVD.
The operating manual is available as PDF le on the DVD. To view these instructions
you need a program that can display PDF les, e.g. Adobe Reader, which can be
downloaded for free at www.adobe.com.
Tips & Notes
If there is a network or system administrator who is responsible for your network (for
example in a larger company) let him set up the connection and the cabling, do not
install the camera yourself!
The Twisted-Pair cable between camera and router/network switch may be 100m
maximum. Use only 1:1 connected CAT5- or CAT5e cables.
Focusing of the image is done through careful rotation of the focus ring outside on
the lens.
The 24 IR LEDs can be switched on or off in the menu of the camera. In the menu
you can also set a speci c time period during which the IR LEDs are activated.
If the IR LEDs are activated, the camera only shows the image in black/white.
Further information regarding the software can be found in the English language
operating manual on the accompanying DVD (PDF format).
