The following instructions are for authorised service workshops only.
x Screw out four screws (a) and remove starter housing.
x Remove the air guide (b).
x Remove Circlip (c) by using a special plier and remove
the washer (d).
x Remove rope pulley (e) and remove all pieces of the
old rope from the pulley and from the starter grip.
Don’t throw away the washer (f), but put it safe by
side. You need it for the install of the new rope.
x Thread in a new starter rope (No. 0063181, dia 4.0
mm, length 940 mm) as shown [don’t forget the
washer (f)] and knot both ends.
x Pull one knot and washer (f) into the starter grip and
the other knot into the rope pulley. Do not let the knots
or the rope ends protrude from the outside of the rope
pulley.
x Insert the rope pulley into the starter housing and turn
it left and right until it completely goes in the right
position.
x Reinstall washer (d) and circlip (c).
x Guide the rope into the recess (g) on the rope pulley
and use the rope to turn the pulley two turns clockwise
(pretension the spring). Holding the rope pulley with
one hand, remove the rope from the recess (g),
straighten out the twist in the rope with your other
hand, pull the rope tight, and hold.
Carefully release the rope pulley Î now the pulley's
spring force will wind the cable counterclockwise
around the pulley.
x Repeat three times. The starter grip must be upright
on the starter housing.
Important: With the cable pulled all the way out, it must still be possible to turn the pulley another
half turn against the return spring.
If this is not possible you have the spring to relax a little by one turn counterclockwise with the rope
clamped into the recess (g).
