Introduction
With your new Philips Ladysha ve y ou can quickly , easily
and comfor tably remo ve unwanted hair from dr y or w et
skin.
This Ladyshav e can only be operated on batter ies.
Important
Read this user manual carefully before y ou use the
appliance and sav e it for future reference.
Store the appliance at a temperatur e between 15°C
and 35°C.
Make sur e that your hands and the a ppliance are
dry when inser ting the batteries.
Do not clean the Ladysha ve with water that is
hotter than shower temperatur e.
This appliance is not intended for use b y persons
(including children) with r educed physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless the y ha ve been giv en supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their saf ety .
Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not pla y with the appliance.
This appliance is only intended for sha ving human
hair . Do not use it f or any other purpose.
Regular cleaning and proper maintenance ensur e
optimal results and guarantee the longest lif etime
for your Ladysha v e.
T o k eep the Ladysha ve watertight:
- Make sure that the rubber sealing r ing of the batter y
holder stays clean and undamaged.
- Apply some vaseline to the rubber sealing ring from
time to time.

Preparing the appliance f or use
The Ladyshav e r uns on tw o R6 AA 1.5 volt batteries.
W e strongl y advise you to use Philips LR6 P ow erLife
batteries. They suppl y sufcient ener gy for approx. 40
minutes of sha ving.
Batteries contain substances that may pollute the
environment.
Make sur e your hands and the a ppliance are dry when
inserting the batteries.
1 Remove the co ver of the battery holder (E) by
pulling it in the direction of the arr ow (Fig. 2).
2 Put the batteries in the batter y holder (Fig. 3).
Make sure the + and - poles of the batteries are pointing
in the right direction.
3 Push the cover of the battery holder back onto the
appliance (‘click’).
T o a v oid damage due to batter y leakage:
Note: Do not expose the Ladyshave to direct sunlight.
Note: Do not expose the appliance to temperatures higher
than 35 c C .
Note: Remove the batteries if the appliance is not going to
be used for a month or more.
Note: Do not leave empty batter ies in the appliance.
Using the appliance
The Ladyshav e is suitable for :
- shaving the underarms;
- shaving the legs;
- shaving the bikini line.
On wet skin
Y ou can use y our Ladyshave on w et skin, e.g. while ha ving
a bath or shower .
The best results are obtained if you lather y our skin (with
soap or shaving cream) bef ore you star t shaving.
On dry skin
If you pref er to use the Ladyshave dr y , mak e sure that
your skin is clean and completely dr y .

Note: There is no differ ence between using the appliance on
wet skin and using it on dr y skin.
Note: Do not apply alcohol based-lotions to the skin directly
before or after shaving. If you want, you can apply some
talcum powder .
Note: Avoid pressing the shaving head too har d onto the skin
as this will adversely affect shaving performance and may
cause some skin irritation.
Legs and bikini line
1 Stretch the skin with y our free hand to mak e the
hairs stand upright.
2 The angle between the skin and the ladysha ve
should be 70 c to get the best results.
3 Move the Ladysha v e slowly ov er the skin against
the direction of hair gr owth while pressing it
lightly (Fig. 4).
Underarms
1 When shaving the underarm ar ea, place one arm
behind your head to str etch the skin (Fig. 5).
2 Move the Ladysha v e slowly ov er the skin.
Y ou can mo ve the Ladysha ve up and down or from the
left to right, depending on which mo vement you nd
most pleasant.
Storage
1 Put the protection cap on y our Ladysha ve after use.
The protection cap prevents the sha ving foil and two
trimmer s from becoming damaged.
Cleaning the appliance
Clean the Ladyshav e ever y time y ou have used it.
Do not use any cor rosive detergents, scouring pads or
cloths, petrol, acetone etc . to clean the appliance.
Do not exert any pr essure on the sha ving foil to a v oid
damage.
After each use
1 Switch the appliance off.
2 Rinse the appliance under the tap (Fig. 6).
Do not clean, rinse or immerse the Ladyshav e in water
if the cover of the battery holder is not properl y closed.
Do not use water that is hotter than show er temper ature
to clean the appliance.
3 Rinse the hairs off the shaving head (Fig. 7).
4 Remove the sha ving head (B) fr om the appliance to
clean the hair chamber and the sha ving head (Fig. 8).
5 Rinse the hairs off the appliance (Fig. 9).
6 Put the shaving head back onto the a ppliance
(‘click’).
A TTENTION: The shaving head ts onl y in one
direction into the sha ving head housing.
Maintenance and replacement
1 Lubricate the shaving f oil with a drop of se wing
machine oil twice a year (Fig. 10).
If you use the Ladysha ve twice a week or more , we advise
you to replace the sha ving head ever y one to tw o year s.
The sha ving head may onl y be replaced with an
original Philips sha ving head (type HP6122).
Envir onment
Batteries contain substances that ma y pollute the
envir onment. Al ways r emov e the batteries before
discarding the appliance or handing it in at an
ofcial collection point. Dispose of the batteries at
an ofcial collection point for batteries.
Do not thro w the appliance a way with the normal
household waste at the end of its life, but hand
it in at an ofcial collection point for r ecycling.
By doing this you will help to pr eser v e the
envir onment (Fig. 11).
T roub leshooting
1 Reduced shaving perf ormance.
Note: Cause 1:The shaving head is dir ty .
Remove the sha ving head and clean it.
Y ou can clean it by rinsing it under the ta p.

Remove an y hairs that might be stuck under the
trimmer!
Note: Cause 2:The appliance runs too slowly (the shaver
produces a weak sound).
Change the batteries.
Clean the sha ving head.
Lubricate the sha ving head with a few dr ops of
sewing machine oil.
2 Stronger skin irritation than usual.
Note: Cause 1: Shaving f oil is damaged or worn.
Replace the sha ving head.
3 Appliance doesn’ t work.
Note: Cause 1: The batter ies are empty .
Replace the batteries.
Note: Cause 2: Batteries have not been placed in the battery
holder correctly .
Put the batteries in the battery holder in
accordance with the indications in the holder .
Note: Cause 3: Battery holder has not been closed properly.
Push the cover of the battery holder onto the
appliance until you hear a click.
4 Appliance fell into water while it was open.
Remove the co ver of the battery holder and let the
appliance dry .
